MADNESS (feat. DJ 4T4) is the new energetic single by Night and Dave. A raw trip that takes the listener through the chaos of the morning rush hour. Singer David Bauwens (Dave) wrote the lyrics on the spot, with a voice recorder on the dashboard, during a car ride through Ghent. Beneath the surface lies a broader reflection: the realization that a life path is not a straight line, but an accumulation of expectations, missteps, moments of ecstasy, and financial stress.
The track moves the way life itself does: nervous, groovy, searching, and ultimately derailing. This mental rollercoaster is translated musically into an explosive mix of pop, jazz, and raw energy, culminating in the unhinged tirade of a “ranting mad man.” All bleeps, scratches, and unpredictable details come from DJ 4T4 (Kristof Michiels), who gives the sound a delicious twist of controlled chaos.
The production was handled by Sebastian Omerson, who recorded the single at his Number Nine Studios in Ghent. The track has a pronounced ’90s feel, which is also reflected in the DIY video the band created for it. Night and Dave are eagerly looking ahead to a busy musical year, kicking off in January 2026 with a UK tour and an EP release in the fall, preceded by a second single in the first half of 2026.
Songwriting duo Bert Van Damme and David Bauwens from Ghent drag you into an energetic and slightly bizarre journey through the night. Live, they’re joined by local jazz legend Daan Demeyer on keys and Pieter Van den Brande, who locks in the groovy basslines on a self-built instrument.
